Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:95.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/95.0
STR:
- Schedule a Zoom meeting with 3 or more participants
- Join the scheduled Zoom meeting from the browser using the following URL syntax:
https://mozilla.zoom.us/wc/join/MeetingID
- Ask other participants to speak, only one participant will be shown at any given time.
(It makes no difference if the other participants join via the webclient or from the Zoom application)
Expected Results:
"Brady bunch squares" are visible, comparable to experience in Chrome.
Actual Results:
The Zoom Web Client does not support Gallery View, leading to a degraded experience in meetings with more than 2 people.
Important Context:
Firefox gallery view dependent on GA implementation of browser technology & CPU performance APIs per Mozilla. WASM SIMD & offscreen canvas are dependencies, and Zoom is currently researching/working with the Firefox Engineering leads to determine best methods for implementation as these are introduced in Nightly versions and ultimately general release.
Zoom leverages WebGL Canvas extensively, async for off-screen canvas.
Latest update was that gfx.offscreencanvas.enabled
has its flag added in about:config
but is still defaulting to false.
Last note: This bug is purely meant for curated knowledge-sharing between Firefox and Zoom's engineers.
