Steps to reproduce:
Hello, I am a developer of a javascript project. I notice that the OffscreenCanvas feature is not turned on by default. I would like to ask if this feature(gfx.offscreencanvas.enabled) will be enabled by default in recent released versions (or is there a timeline for the release of this feature) ?

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Graphics' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

I'm not sure if we have a concrete timeline, but it looks like we're considering enabling it by-default in Nightly in bug 1746110 . I imagine we'll know more after that is able to land. aosmond may be able to provide more information on to-what-extent we have a plan for shipping this, since it looks like he's in the area.
I'll mark this as a duplicate of that bug. If you have further questions, please ask in our chat at https://chat.mozilla.org/#/room/#developers:mozilla.org or on https://groups.google.com/g/mozilla.dev.platform ,

[Sorry, accidentally submitted my comment via "Ctrl+Enter" before finishing typing it -- continuing here:]
RE asking on chat.m.o or dev-platform -- we try to keep Bugzilla / bug reports focused on reports of specific defects (and discussion on how to fix them), and avoid using it as a forum for discussion / asking questions / that sort of thing.
(I'll CC aosmond in case he wants to add to add any additional detail on shipping plans, though.)
Thanks!

Right now, we have the limitation that text isn't supported by our canvas 2d implementation, so enabling it for a broader audience isn't possible (we'll break too many things). Our intention is to ship it in 2022. For the moment, it will only be turned on for certain domains in the vein of an origin trial, at the moment just *.zoom.us in Firefox 99. There is efforts underway to add proper origin trial plumbing to Firefox although I'm not sure on the timeline for that, but in general, if there is a particular partner that can work within our current limitations, we are willing to consider enabling it on for their domains.
