Hi
I have tested this using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US;
rv:1.5b) Gecko/20030725
and I am no longer seeing this issue.
Reporter can you please retest with a current mozilla build, and see if it is
gone for you too. ?
Please resolve the bug as appropriate or let us now if you still see it.

I can confirm that the bug still exists under "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686;
en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030718".
However under Windows it worked OK for 1.4.
John, please try to reproduce this on your linux installation with a new profile.
Possible duplicate of bug 167046.

Creating a new Mozilla profile under Linux does indeed seem to solve the problem
there. Just need to recreate my filters and move the mail folders to the new
profile (I hope).
It does imply though that Mozilla can get confused if prefs.js is not quite
right. It would be good if Mozilla could at least display an error message that
the configuration is corrupted and what to do about it.
John, in your old (problematic) profile try going to the Copies & Folders panel
and changing every single setting, including the selection for each folder
pointed to by the radio-button choices. Once you've done that, hit okay, and
then go back and change everything back to the way you want. Just make sure
that every single widget has been adjusted somehow.
I saw a problem with the JMC dialog not functioning because a selected
addressbook no longer existed, and I'd like to see if a similar problem (some
folder no longer existent) is occurring here.
