Steps to reproduce:
- Have multiple tabs opened.
- Start to download a file. (download dialogue enabled)
- Before the download dialogue pops up, quickly start dragging a tab out to create a new window. Keep dragging.
Actual results:
If the download dialogue pops up while dragging, that tab get stuck and no longer able to move or close. Need to close the entire window.
This is not limited to download dialogue. If an addon shows a notification while dragging, the same thing happens. Could be other cases Im not aware of.
Dragging a tab in order to move its position within the window doesnt seem to be affected.
Expected results:
Tab doesn't get stuck.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi,
I wasn't able to reproduce this on my end, I did not manage to get a tab stuck, I guess the timing has to be exactly right as well, could you please check if this also occurs to you when downloading on a new profile? Here is a link that can help you with that:

Thank you!
Hi,
I tried it on a new profile and could reproduce it. You need at least 2 tabs opened, then click a download link and start dragging a tab around before the dialogue shows up.

Can you provide more detailed steps to reproduce? I would have expected bug 1544167 to fix this scenario (ie I am surprised this reproduces for you in 98, and I cannot replicate the same - if I try, the drag is stopped (creating a new window) as soon as the dialog comes up). Additionally, the downloads logic changed with 98 and now by default we no longer show a dialog at all, instead just showing the downloads panel, which doesn't interrupt the drag.

If an addon shows a notification while dragging, the same thing happens.
"Notification" unfortunately is quite an ambiguous term. Can you provide more details about what kind of notification you're referring to? If you mean a desktop notification, as per bug 1593586 I would expect this to be fixed in Firefox 97 and newer.

Its probably the desktop notification, the one that pops up at the bottom right. I just tested and as of Firefox 97, it seems most of the problem was resolved.
There was still one case where it gets stuck. If the windows file dialog (save as dialog?) pops up while dragging a tab, the entire window becomes unresponsive to clicks. I needed to hit Esc or Enter to move on. Im not sure the exact name of each dialog. Will attach some images.
This dialog used to cause problem but seems resolved as of FF97.

If this dialog pops up, it still causes the window to get stuck.
