Steps to reproduce:
Using Firefox 97.0 (64bit) on the beta channel.
Start the browser and keep it open for some period of time. I have not determined how long it takes before the folder expand and collapse functionality stops working.
Actual results:
My bookmarks panel is docked to the left side of the browser.
The expand/collapse action of folders stops working when it is clicked. The icon animation pivot 90deg intermittently occurs, but the sub-items of an expanded folder do not collapse. If the folder is already collapsed it will not expand.
Expected results:
Bookmark folders should expand and collapse appropriately when the folder or arrow icon is clicked.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please revert this change in case you think the bot is wrong.

I couldn't manage to reproduce this issue on my end.
Could you please try if the issue occurs in safe mode. Here is a link that can help you with that: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode
If the issue still persist, please test using a fresh profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles

I experienced same issue twice with latest winx64 release version. In my case it happened when Firefox was minimized and pc was in sleep mode overnight. Next morning, waking pc and maximizing Firefox, bookmark folders stopped opening or closing or expanding/collapsing while any visible bookmarks continued to function. However, I have not been able to reproduce this over past few days. Really not sure what else might have been minimized, possibly explorer file manager. I normally don’t leave anything maximized when I let pc sleep overnight, but may have a few minor things minimized.
