User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:95.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/95.0

Steps to reproduce:

Tried to open about:config.

Opened Preferences, searched for "configuration."

Actual results:

No link to the configuration editor.

Yes, it shows for a bit while typing, but I have coordination problems, and have to watch the keyboard while typing. I can't see the screen while typing. It disappears by the time I'm done.

No way to Page Down the preferences either.

Expected results:

Should show in search results.

Hi Marja, what's your Thunderbird UI language?
In English, the button is called Config Editor.
It has an access key "C" which does nothing for me (Alt+C, Alt+Shift+C). That looks like a bug (coming from platform).
In English, you can search for just "Config" or "Editor".
To use page down, you have to press tab key once to leave search box, then page down will work to scroll.

I would love it if entering "about:config" into the search box would find this in all locales, or even if "about:config" + Enter in search box could do the trick.

The best way is to search exactly for the button caption in your language, so for English searching for "Config Editor" will return only the button.

Indeed, "configuration" is nowhere found in settings. It's never been called "Configuration Editor".

Mostly English. "Config" is not a word in my dialect, I assume it's short for configuration so I search for configuration. (And "OK" (sic) is not either.)

Tab + Page Down works in Firefox, but not in Thunderbird.

Let's morph this to be about finding "about:config" independent of localization. Especially if testing exotic l10n it can be hard to get there...

Awesome! Thanks Magnus for morphing and fixing this per my comment 1 - long wish come true! Great little tweak also for support, because (as Magnus hinted), you may not know what "Config Editor" translates to in Japanese.

You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
