Using build 20021020 on w2k. When you empty a toolbar in the customization window, then click "Done", the empty toolbar disappears automatically. When you do the same thing with the navigation bar (for example by putting your nav buttons and the URIbar right to the menu bar), the Navigation Bar is still there, and to remove it, you have to uncheck it in the View > Toolbars menu. Same for the bookmarks toolbar. See URL for a screenshot.

Auto-hide-when-empty for the standard toolbars would be good; possibly auto-removal instead, if the "default toolbars" code is modified to recreate them as well as their content.

Yep, I'm still seeing this on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4) Gecko/20090423 Firefox/3.5b4 ID:20090423191946

The question is do we want to hide default toolbars or not delete empty non-default toolbars when hitting ok while no item is placed on. Looks like a question for the UX team.

Yes, as long as they come back when you customize and they are turned on. An empty toolbar isn't very useful in general. :)

Please, not without an option to keep existing behavior - it is easy to uncheck unwanted toolbars in the view/toolbars menu. see bug 519698 "Add New Toolbar" doesn't work if you don't put something in the new toolbar
