User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:98.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/98.0
Steps to reproduce:
Using an email with an attachment, I right-cliqued on the filename at the bottom of the message reader window on "detach". The file saving window opens, and I changed the filename (actually I added an identification to the end of the filename) and clicked on save. The file did save in the correct directory with the changed filename (I checked using a file explorer).
I then right-clicked again on the filename at the botton of the message reader window and now chose "open". The file opened with the original, non-changed filename. So clearly it did not open from the saved location, but from a temporary location.
Actual results:
In older versions (perhaps one or two months ago), the file would open from the saved location with the new filename. This is rather dangerous, because if for example for a word file I do not verify in the header of the OpenOffice window, that the name is the new name, and then save, the edited file would be saved in the Thunderbird temporary directory, and deleted upon closing of Thunderbird. I have lost some hours of work in this way, because there was never a necessity to check that Thunderbird did actually open from the detached location (and not from a temporary one, even if the file had been detached) ....
Expected results:
Thunderbird should have opened from the detached location with the new filename, as it did before.

Actually this problem also arises when the filename is not changed at all : simlpy detaching an attachment, and then opening it from the right click menu in the message reader window, will open the file from a temporary location. I don't know if this is intended, but it did not work this way a few versions back and this is very dangerous, because other than explicitely verifying from where this file had been opened (e.g. by word), when clicking save in the program which opened this file, all edits will be saved in the temporary folder, and then be lost the the user .....

yes, I just installed version 102.2.1 and it's working again as expected. Many thanks, this will make working with attachments so much easier.
