User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:98.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/98.0
Steps to reproduce:
Auto setup of Gmail account, including web authentication
Actual results:
Received mail from Google that Thunderbird has given access to Gmail account
Successfully able to receive gmail
Sending email results in "Password Not Accepted" error (yes, I'm sure I used the correct one)
Expected results:
Outgoing mail to gmail server should be accepted.

Can you go to Account Settings, and take a look at the "Authentication method" selected for your SMTP server. Does it work if you set it to OAuth2
?

It is set to OAuth2, same result
Another peculiar aspect is that this problem only started last week.

This is what my gmail SMTP settings look like, do yours look the same (baring usernames of course.)
Note: these settings are in the outgoing server (SMTP) entry in the account settings list. We used to be able to say it was the last entry. But that is no longer the case. It could appear anywhere in the list as it is entirely unordered.
Hi,
Yes, exactly the same settings. I think the issue is the lack of a way to do a second factor auth.
I would suggest you try windows 10 safe mode with networking. I don't think this is a Thunderbird issue at all.
