Details

Steps to reproduce:

  • Open in folder with messages having varying number of displayed headers (Cc, etc.), e.g. some real newsgroup.
  • "Read" several messages paying attention to the position of the splitter between message list and the headers pane.

Actual results:

For messages having more headers the splitter jumps upper, when another message has fewer headers the more compact panes causes a jump to lower level.

Last message visible in the list may disappear and then appear again during the walk through the messages.

It is a relatively new peculiarity, likely version 100 or 101. Thunderbird-91 has the stable splitter. At first I had a hope that I noticed some transient glitch due to intermediate development stage of some task, but such behavior have not changed since last several weeks.

Expected results:

Only bottom part of the message header pane is moved during switching to another message (anyway changed message causes significant difference in appearance in that area). Upper edge should be stable in respect to the last message in the list.

I think what you are seeing is Bug 1754794 Message preview pane vertical position changes depending on size of message header
