My status bar is about 1.5 inches high with the following text in red "<menuitem
id="view_gg_menuitem". The normal status items, for example, "Done" and the
composer icon, appear at the top. Turning off status bar (View > Show/Hide >
Status Bar) only removes the normal status bar, not the much larger gray area
with the above text in it.

Might it be, that the Mozilla build you're using is somewhat old? Try deleting
the files in chrome-folder.

My bad. This error is caused by googlebar project and not mozilla. Googlebar was
the first thing I installed.
