+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1738582 +++

Steps to reproduce:

  1. double-click on any message to open it in a new tab
  2. right-click in the tab header of the message, select Move to New Window.

Actual results:

  • New window opens with two tabs
    • duplicate of 3-pane tab
    • moved message tab (focused)

Expected results:

  • Don't add a duplicate 3-pane tab, just open the message in a new window (as we do when you right-click on message context menu in message list, then Open Message in New Window). If I really wanted another 3-pane, there's other ways of achieving that.
  • Not sure if I'd want the message in new stand-alone window to have a tab header.
    • Advantage is you could easily add other messages side by side for grouping, comparing etc. (as in a container).
    • Disadvantage is clutter for single-message case.
    • Ideally, no tab header if single message, but if I drop another tab, it should revert to tabs.

On a related note, if Move to New Window is not meant to work on the main 3-pane tab, it should be hidden.
