Steps to reproduce:

Use "Theatre Mode" on Twitch with Firefox Nightly 103.0a1.

Actual results:

The video quality drops significantly.

Expected results:

The video quality should be what you would expect from downscaling or upscaling. The issue is not present on Firefox Beta 102.0 RC.

The video quality should be what you would expect from downscaling or upscaling. The issue is not present on Firefox Beta 102.0 RC.

Interesting, but I don't think that bug is the cause of your issue because that patch is simply adding Intel hardware MFT into a consideration for H264 hardware decoding. But you're using AMD graphic card which means that patch won't affect you at all.

I would say maybe bug 1757823 is more possible for causing this, if the issue is related with hardware decoding.

Would you help me do following things?

1. using mozregression again, but this time choose starting from changeset (if you use gui version, click the middle button and then in the third steps you should be able to choose from date/release/buildid/changeset. And use 4b38c6da5105f454dfbc322284dafb074fdd09b0 as the targeted changeset, which is the change without bug 1757823.

(you could also try 15cebc1bbdefe8a635edef28b8503b89446105b3 which is the version without D145383, the one you found in comment7)

2. capture profiled result again
   This time could you help me also capture the screenshot? (click 'edit setting' on the profiler menu, and then you should be able to find the option of capturing screenshot) I checked your profile in the comment3, it doesn't look like the Twitch was dropping the resolution. I only saw Twitch dump the resolution higher from 480p to 720p.

3. check private window and fresh profile.
   I'm surprised that switching the bookmark toolbar also affects the video resolution (in comment4), which shouldn't affect the video at all. Could you try doing the same behavior on a new profile, and on a private browsing window to see if the issue still exists?

4. disable hw decoding
   If you disable the pref media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled, will the issue still exist?

Bug 1768699 might be also related. But at that bug I didn't see why Reddit appends the low resolution video to us. I already reported the issue to them but didn't hear any respond yet.

Actually, that fix changed it so that non-Intel systems running D3D11 will be able to hardware decode H264 video once again, so it may be the changelist that caused this issue to appear for :viruskiller. However, since this was just fixing another regression to bring back hardware decoding, unless the reporter's system should be blacklisted from some part of the hardware acceleration pipeline, it seems to me that this must be related to the work on DComp video on Windows. Should :sotaro or someone else on the graphics team take a look at this maybe?

From the above error, I noticed that IDXGISwapChain3::SetColorSpace1() failure handling was wrong.

Chromium does like the following.
