Contact photo icons in the list of contacts are needlessly tiny which effectively makes it all but impossible to use them for visual recognition. Right now they are more like decorative colored spots.
Actual:
- On my rather large screen, the icon renders with a diameter of 5 mm.
- All but impossible to recognize the person on the photo even when the face has maximum size.
Expected:
- The icon should be larger to make it useful for visual recognition.
- The icon could have up to double diameter (1 cm), which would be same height as the two text rows (Name, email). The height of a selected contact is 1.5 cm for me, so we'd still have sufficient margin around the icon.
- If double size for the icon looks too big, anything from resize factor 1.5 upwards would still help.

Indeed, incorrect sizing due to the "compact" density.
Heads up, that using cm
or mm
is not really correct, and measurements should be done in pixel, since the metric system values can variate from screen to screen.

Thanks for confirming!

Sure, I'm aware of that, was just mentioning those metrics for fast illustration (not for implementation), which looks sufficient for comparing the relative sizes (icon vs. contact item), and for presenting a sample real-life outcome.
What's your preferred/easiest way of measuring elements in pixels?
