Please provide the crash ids. Found under Help | More Troubleshooting information
I do not understand.
Looking for "crash" I find 10 items on this page. The path " C:\Users\Goetz\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Crash Reports" found there doesn't show any "crash.ids". The same as searching on hard disk...

I think you mean it hangs (stops responding), not crashes.
Do help > troubleshoot mode. Does the problem still reproduce?
well I started in trobleshooting mode marking boath deactivating all add-ons and all symbols.
Same behaviour.
But you are right: I had to close the app manually because there is not any answer...

Did this start a couple days ago in 102.2.1?
Or did it start prior to 102.2.1?
I add: Maybe in older versions there were breaks as this (last version? V91? V98?)
But anyway: I do not wait any longer. The same as for Firefox I use them for YEARA.
. Any next version which get released works worse than the other. The big advantage of Thunderbird and Firefox were and are the Bunch of add-ons!
But the frequency of releases gets shorter and shorter. And the free and costless developers cannot follow this run. So, the user waits months until a compatible add-on exists. And not much later the same game goes on. I am no developer. I do not know what get changed every release. But THIS is an ill game!
So, I shall buy a commercial product. But why should I lose time in opening Thunderbird again and again?!
I'm sad, but these projects started with a lot of hope against the commercial products. But this is no longer a justifiable quality

Try Windows in safe mode with networking enabled
win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode
OK.
Just the moment I had an idea:
I am visually impaired and use the program "Zoomtext" for magnification and changing colors. After closing this program Thunderbird did what it shall do.
Maybe both the programs use same library or same memory? I do not know. But I cannot work without Zoomtext. Not for a long time... What to do?

Are you using the most current version of ZoomText?
I had someone test it with ZoomText version 2022.2 and they had no trouble

Sorry, since I am fully blind, I do not use magnification software such as ZoomText. For this reason, I can only help to a limited extent. I could try to reproduce this problem.
Does this problem also exist with the public beta of ZoomText 2023? This can also be tested as a demo version.

Meanwhile for me I got support by AlSquad (Zoomtext): I had to delete "Acc..." from the list of the help programs. Then all got "normal"
