1790148 - Improve the UI of the App Menu

After the reorganization of the various menu items, we need to do a round of polish and clean up.
The spacing is inconsistent between items, the density variation between compact and normal is barely noticeable, and the overall sizing of the panels need some tweaking.

I think we can safely close this as the app menu is looking pretty sharp and a lot of UI improvements have been added.
Any other fixes can be in their own follow up bugs.
