User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:104.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/104.0

Steps to reproduce:

In an local folder (IMAP) I did a quick filter, and selected Body, for the word "Expert".

Actual results:

Emails dated on and before 21/04/2022 were selected.

Expected results:

There are emails from date 21/06/2022 onwards which should have been included.
Using webmail all emails were selected using that selection.

User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/102.2.2. System info attached.

This will be hard to figure out without more information and test .eml messages which fail to be found (remember to replace private data).
Quick filter Body search isn't one of TB's strongest features. You could try Global Search (Ctrl+K) instead.

  • Roger, can you please try Repair folder and retest quick filtering for "Expert" in body?
  • Did you update Thunderbird on or after 21-04-2022?
  • Anything which might be different about those messages found vs. not found? Character sets etc.?
  • Did you double-check that emails missing from qf result set actually have the word "Expert" in the body (and not in an attachment or so)?
  • Does search also fail for most recent with ≡ > Help > Troubleshoot Mode…?
Severity: -- → S3
Component: Untriaged → Search

It is in a folder, not an inbox, and I hove run repair.
Newer emails now appear. I will remember to run repair next time, before placing a log.
Thanks you for your time.

Reporter, do you still see this issue when using the latest version?
What information can you add to clarify the steps to reproduce this issue?

Whiteboard: [closeme 2023-04-25]

I'm on version 102.9.1 (64-bit)
It still happens in a folder.
It doesn't find an email with a text string, however when I go into the email and do CTRL-F, with the same string it finds it.
It doesn't find "Expert" in this email content (I've deleted personal names), although it appears several times.
