Noticed that the new macOS icon is out of place on pre-big sur macOS. You can see this from the attached dock screenshot - there aren't squircle icons, even from apple apps.
I am running macOS 1.15.18 in the screenshot.

Set release status flags based on info from the regressing bug 1784524
:bhearsum, since you are the author of the regressor, bug 1784524, could you take a look? Also, could you set the severity field?

As far as I know (and I've checked with one of our macOS experts), there's no way for us to dynamically provide a separate icon to different macOS versions. I suspect that the reason the Apple apps are able to do so is because Apple is providing completely separate builds for each macOS version. That's something that's not reasonable for us to do with Firefox.
I'm closing this WONTFIX because of this, but if someone knows of a way to do this without separate binaries, we can reconsider.
