This is silly, and its a recent regression. Possibly my CGI.pm stuff again. I'm looking into it
This is apparently a feature. See bug 150776, comment 11 Note that we don't get any feedback to the user though - probably adding a FLUSH after any message would be a good idea. I do think its silly though - what actually happens most of the time is that you run your query, check that the results are correct, and then save it.

Well, it does do exactly what it says on the tin :-) "Run this query and..." I am coming to the conclusion that named queries should be created from buglist.cgi ("make this search a named query"), run from a dropdown list in the footer, and managed/deleted from userprefs.cgi?tab=footer. So they would have no UI on the query page at all, which would simplify things a lot. Gerv
possibly, although how would you give it a name from buglist.cgi? An extra screen? I could cope with that.
At the bottom: Save this query as [ ] It would automatically appear in the footer, as would all queries, because they wouldn't appear on the query page any more - so that's another UI simplification. I'll write up my thoughts fully in another bug. Gerv
Bug 179339 filed for overhaul of stored queries mechanism. Closing this bug as WONTFIX, because the observed behaviour is as designed. Gerv

clearing milestone on all DUPLICATE/WONTFIX/WORKSFORME/INVALID so they'll show up as untriaged if they get reopened. "Jiminy Cricket!" for the filters (and I don't care if it's spelled wrong ;)
