RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1774799

People

(Reporter: phd, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:105.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/105.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. open Bookmarks Library
  2. select a Folder containing so many bookmarks that they overflow and there is a scrollbar in the bookmarks view
  3. scroll the bookmarks' scroll-view down a bit using mouse wheel
  4. select one of the bookmarks with a mouse click

Actual results:

The scroll-view jumps randomly back when the bookmark is selected.
This behavior is unexpected by the user, and it breaks user experience as bookmarks randomly jump out of user focus.

It seems to happen since Firefox 105.
I'm pretty sure Firefox 104 didn't behave like this.

Expected results:

The selected bookmark is (obviously) already visible, so the scroll-view should not be artificially scrolled (to ensure it is visible?).

Component: Untriaged → Bookmarks & History

Additional info:
This can be reproduced every time.
But happens only once after a Folder has been opened.
You need to open another Folder (or the same one again) from the tree-view on the left to be able to reproduce this bug again.

Can not reproduce the issue on Ubuntu 20.04 using Firefox build 105.0(20220915150737).
Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables add-ons, extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems.) See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode. Thank you.

Likely a duplicate of bug 1774799, it should be fixed in Firefox 106.

Yes, the issue still happens with firefox --safe-mode.

Firefox 105.0.2 (from MozillaTeam's PPA), Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy

@Marco Bonardo
Just tested with 106.0~b9+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1, and yes, it is fixed there.
And it looks like this duplicated #1774799.
