Steps to reproduce:

Open Deleted messages folder
Ctrl-K
type search term (for a visible item)

Actual results:

Hits do not include items in Deleted folder.

Expected results:

Find all relevant.
It works using the 'Search Messages' function from the Local Folders head page.

Trash and Spam folders are not search by default/design. But it is possible by overriding the folder behavior - right+click on folder > Properties > Include messages in this folder in Global Search results.
