Details

Firefox users can disable the sponsored top sites feature on the newtab page by checking the “sponsored shortcuts“ checkbox of the newtab preference panel. Whenever they do so, we should make sure Pocket sponsored tiles are also disabled on the new tab page.

I have verified this issue on the latest Nightly 108.0a1 (Build ID: 20221109164728) on Windows 10 x64, macOS 12.4 and Linux Mint 20 x64.

  • The Sponsored tiles are no longer displayed if the "Sponsored shortcuts" option is disabled. Also, the Sponsored tiles are redisplayed if the option is enabled.
