Steps to reproduce:
I turned off the nested message threads (I can't remember where) a couple of months ago.
Actual results:
I added 2 new accounts & they now have nested message threads. The others don't.
Expected results:
I thought it was a setting in settings, but we did a search for threads, nested & nothing showed up.

You can use the column picker "Apply current view to...".
mailnews.default_view_flags 0 will make new folders unthreaded by default.

Ok, I did that & now accounts that never had nesting now have nesting. LOL

Which change did you do? If you want unthreaded, set one folder as unthreaded and use the menu from the picker to make the others look the same.

We put 0 where you told us to & now ALL of the accounts that weren't nested are now nested & vice versa LOL
I think that's a bug right? It should do it for all accounts, not just the ones that weren't nested before.
And I think nested accounts tax my computer more.
I wish I could edit.
So I checked the newer accounts & they are also nested, so it's on all of them, not just the older ones.

Turning on/off threads won't affect the performance.
Possibly a bug, but I can't reproduce that. Try Help | Troublshoot mode
Ok, so I didn't understand that what you wanted us to do was ONLY for new account, not for my existing accounts, so we set it back to 0 (I still don't' understand why changing that changed old/existing accounts) & then manually turned it off on each account. But, you wrote...

Did you mean per account, not per FOLDER? That's a ton of work to have to turn off nesting per folder when it should be per account.
