I have no rights to comment on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1226851 , so I had to open a new bug.

I understand that CSV import had known limitations and bugs as described in the mentioned bug. But I don't understand why CSV export got removed, too!

My use case:
I use a calendar to store when guests are visiting. When they are staying overnight, I assign a specific category to the event. At the end of the year, I export all events from this category to CSV and import the file to LibreOffice. Then I can sum up the number of nights we had guests because I need this number for my landlord. (We have to pay for guests staying overnight using rooms that are not rented by us.)

It's very convenient because I have the event of somebody visiting in necessary detail in my calendar and from there I could easily export the information I needed.

With only HTML and ICS export available I have no clue how to process the data.
Please restore CSV export!
Or maybe someone could show a way how to process data from ICS files? (But I imagine that being more complicated than it was with the CSV.)

ICS files are just specially formatted text files, there's plenty of resources on how to convert them to CSV via Google, for example https://www.indigoblue.eu/ics2csv/

I don't know LibreOffice specifically but It's also likely possible to get a rough import via just treating the ICS file as a delimited text file similarly to how this tutorial suggests for Excel.

We're not planning to add CSV export at this time.

The two comments referenced are not workarounds to the removal of calendar export in CSV format, they are required secondary workarounds for deficiencies in the suggested primary workaround "use a third-party tool to export the calendar to CSV" . It was repeatedly pointed out that no third-party tool, even with secondary workarounds, is fit-for-purpose. The workaround tag is misleading and you should, by rights, remove it.

The repeated feedback regarding the suggestion to "use a third-party tool" is that the available tools are unfit-for-purpose in various ways, in particular online conversion tools are unfit because they require the provision of sensitive information to third parties. From Connect thread 9571 and Support ticket 1382499:

Converting from a ICS file to spreadsheet is a PITA and I have yet to find a decent converter.

The solution with these ics konverters is not a good thing. I don't whant to let the data run in a onlineplatform.

From what I have found online, all ics to csv convertible tools are a extremely poor substitute

The reality is that the unanimous sentiment from end-users is:

Reinstating the Thunderbird csv export is preferred.

Summary of Feedback from Mozilla Connect

  1. Can this be reversed... ?
  2. I have to agree ...
  3. bitte dringend prĂĽfen und korrigieren !!! ("Please check and correct urgently!!!")
  4. Bring back calendar csv export!
  5. Please but it back in!!!
  6. I agree, please bring back the calendar to csv export capability... This is a nightmare if done manually.
  7. ... please put it back!
  8. I also concurr to the thread : please bring back this function ...
  9. Please bring back import and export csv function.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1382499 suggests limiting fields to

This isn't accurate, the commenter speculated on the benefits and costs of limiting the exported fields, then concluded with that list as an example (emphasis mine):

As an example (others may offer suggestions), data elements to include:
...

The reality is that restoring the original CSV export feature is the most expedient way to address the problems caused by its removal.
