We are seeing the new-metric-capture-emulation doctype missing from firefox-desktop-background-update namespace.

Possibly related to ongoing investigation into similar issue with background-update doctype missing from firefox-desktop namespace (seems like that doctype might have been combined with the namespace to create a new namespace for the issue noted here).

Also related, this doctype is being shut down, per https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1797631.

In this case the code for submitting the ping was present in both apps, but the pings.yaml was not in both lists. Our apologies, we should've given it a closer inspection.

For what it's worth, as the person doing the investigation into this data, I am fine with pretty much any decision we go with about what happens to future data. This can including not taking this data in at ingestion if that would be the cleanest/easiest solution. I would like existing data to remain around if possible.

I can also confirm that the doctype is being shut down, intentionally.
