Attached file Testcase —

Live version of this testcase: https://virgule.net/tmp/bugs/input_type_date_wayland.html

Steps to reproduce:

  • Use a Firefox running under Wayland
  • Open a page with an <input type="date"> widget positioned on the right side of the page
  • Make sure your window is fullscreen or positioned in such a way that the right side of the page is very close to the right edge of your monitor
  • Click on the calendar icon on the <input type="date"> widget

Expected results:

  • A calendar widget should appear, displaying the current month

Actual results:

  • The calendar widget never appears.

Does not reproduce with other OS or non-Wayland Linux, and does not reproduce when there is enough space to display the calendar widget without having to reposition it because it's too close to the edge of the screen.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Gtk
Product: Firefox → Core

I can reproduce.

FWIW, I can occasionally get the popup to appear if I right-click and then left-click the calendar icon in rapid succession. (Sometimes this triggers a context menu, sometimes it triggers nothing at all, and sometimes it successfully pops up a calendar widget.)

Summary: input type=date calendar fails to display with Linux/Wayland when positioned at the edge of the screen → input type=date calendar popup fails to display with Linux/Wayland when positioned at the edge of the screen
