Prerequisites

In about:config, set the pdfjs.disabled pref to false.
Make sure you have a PDF file in an email.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Set Focus Nightly as the default browser.
  2. Go to Gmail and open a PDF as a custom tab.

Expected behavior

The PDF file is opened as a custom tab.

Actual behavior

The PDF file is not opened as a custom tab - please see the short video attached.

Device information

  • Focus version: Nightly 110.0a1
  • Fenix version: Nightly 110.0a1
  • Devices: Lenovo tab M10 (Android 10), Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Android 9)
  • NOT reproducible on Google Pixel 6 (Android 13), nor on Oppo Reno 6G (Android 12)

There's probably a different kind of intent for PDFs, so if we want to support this we have to register Firefox as an handler for that too.

We should re-test this after bug 1815739 is fixed.

I've retested on Focus Nightly 122.0a1 build from 12/6.
On Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Android 9) the issue is fixed - setting Focus Nightly as default, opens the PDF files in custom tabs.

However, on Lenovo tablet M10 (Android 10), the issue is still reproducible.
