User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020827 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020827 When the cursor is over a link, the link URL is displayed in the botom window bar. If the URL is too long to be fully displayed, some middle part of it--selected I know not how--is chopped out and ellipsis dots inserted. Netscape instead showed as much of the URL, left to right, as would fit. It would be very convenient to have a user preference for three behaviors: 1. As now, show start and end of URL with middle parts elided. 2. Show as much of the leading part as will fit (old-style behavior). 3. Show as much of the trailing part as will fit. Example: looking at Amazon.com pages--it would be nice to be able to mouse over an entry in a search-hits list to get the Amazon ASIN that is a part of the URL for the link without having to actually load the page; that used to work fine, but now that part of the URL is in the elided block. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to any web page containing links that are very long URLs. 2. Place the cursor over any such link. Actual Results: The link URL displays in the form: http://yadda.yadda.com/yadda/ye...more/something.html Expected Results: Displayed: http://yadda.yadda.com/yadda/yadda/moreyadda/yetmo (Or other things, ideally depending on a user-prefs setting.) This may not be a "bug", depending on one's expectations of what a "correct" display should be.
Maybe scrolling would be fine too, as a fourth option. (As Winamp does.)
To XP Apps; this would require dynamically changing the "crop" attr on the status bar....
