User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/109.0
Steps to reproduce:
Attempt to login to microsoft account using oauth2 (as now enforced by microsoft for "security reasons") with thunderbird version 102.7.0 and you will get authentication failure pop up, over and over again.
If the account already existed, aka you migrated from an older version, you get a pop up from thunderbird every 5 seconds (this is incredibly annoying and forced me to delete my mail account and settings) asking you to verify, and then it proceeds to fail and ask you again.
Actual results:
When attempting to add a new account:
Failure message is added, saying your sysadmin is probably the reason for the error, but when I downgraded to version 102.6.1, it works flawlessly, thus highlighting a bug with the latest version with the 102 branch.
When using an existing account:
OAuth2 sign in pop up shows up every 5 seconds redirecting you to microsoft to enter your password, you do so and then it proceeds to pop back up 5 seconds later after saying that authentication has failed.
Expected results:
When attempting to add a new account:
The account is added successfully using the OAuth2 authentication method.
When using an existing account:
This sounds a little stupid to explicitly state, but for the email to continue working after updating the client, instead of breaking due to an update :/
I would like to highlight as a sidenote, the OS in use here is Arch Linux, the latest version of the package was installed from a mirror, it can be found here: https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/thunderbird/
I have been forced to downgrade to the previous version by pulling the package from the Arch Archives, https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/t/thunderbird/ and setting pacman to ignore the thunderbird package (until this bug is fixed).
For anyone who does not use exchange, and does use IMAP/SMTP with their microsoft account, they will not be able to use thunderbird, and thus this issue is quite severe, especially for businesses who do not want to pay for the proprietary thunderbird exchange plugin!

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1810760 ***
I will see if the arch package maintainer can patch the package with this fix.
Thanks for the help.
