Steps to reproduce:
I use multiple carddav address books to organize contacts.
Actual results:
The address book view contains a personal addressbook that I don't use and don't want to use.
Expected results:
There should be a way to hide/deactivate local address books (even collected addresses) and also hide these from dropdown menus when moving contacts, starring contacts etc.

Sounds like a useful enhancement to me. Wrt implementation, not exactly trivial, but probably not super-hard either. Perhaps we could do this when we have some free cycles. Not so soon. I think we would accept a patch, so I suggest confirming the idea and change this RFE's status to NEW.

Yeah, that could be useful, definitely for next cycle once we can tackle the address book and bring it to completion

That is also in line with the plan to hide "Local Folders" by default.
An option to delete the automatically generated personal local address book would also be fine from my personal point of view and simple to achieve. But that is a design decision that is completely up to the Thunderbird team.
I'd also like to disable "Personal Address Book" -- though I don't want to disable all local address books, "Collected Addresses" I'd still like to use. So this shouldn't be tied together I think. But "Personal Address Book" is quite annoying when my real main address book is on CardDAV, and now every time I add a contact I have to remember if "Personal Address Book" or "Main Contacts" is the right one to use...

(In reply to Philipp Schlesinger from comment #6)
There is a corresponding idea on Mozilla Connect.
Thanks for pointing this out.
