Steps to reproduce:

click on firefox icon on dash

Actual results:

nothing, just a rolling icon for few seconds.

Expected results:

firefox should start

note: firefox starts fine if started from terminal

What's the command from the terminal, and what's the command from the dash item?

Is this Firefox provided by Ubuntu, or Firefox provided by Mozilla?

Looks like Snap issue.

The command from terminal is "snap run firefox" or "firefox" or "MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 snap run firefox"
firefox is the snap provided by Ubuntu: firefox 111.0.1-2 2487 latest/stable mozilla✓ -
from dash i just click on the FF icon calling firefox-desktop from /usr/share/applications

I mean in this bug you mention that it works with pure Wayland, and bug 1822374 comment 8 suggests it does not, so it is a bit complicated to figure out the situtation there.
