We've heard from some users that they would like to be able to turn on the GC proposal manually in beta and release. Right now we only compile it in nightly and can relax this. We will still keep it turned off by default.

Hi! Is there any news about it?

I made a patch to do this in bug 1832378, and it should land there soon. We needed to refactor some code to allow this.
