Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126
When I browse the local folders, the 'file -> get new messages for' menu is
disabled.
The same to dropdown arrow at get messages toolbar button.
It's logical that it's impossible to download messages for current account if
it's local, but why disabling possibility of getting messages for selected account?
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to local folders
2. Select a message
Actual Results:
'File -> Get new messages' and and 'File -> Get messages for' become disabled.
Expected Results:
'File -> Get messages for' should be always enabled

Sorry to say, it works for me.
Using 1 hour old CVS based build.
Any 3rd party theme ?
Did you try taking out xul.mfl in your profile when mozilla is closed ?

I put the attachment to visualize my problem.
Again: the menu gets disabled when I select message in a local folder.

Sorry, but I cannot see this problem while selecting a message in local folders.
Options menu are not greyed.

Frederic,
Stupid question, but I'm getting stupid. Don't you see it in your installation
or don't you see it on the picture I had attached?
What Options menu are you talking about?
Are I and my Mozilla schizofrenic?
Or perhaps it has been fixed after 1.2 had been released? This would explain a
lot :)

I do not see this bug at all ! :-)
Menu Options ?
I was speaking of those which are greyed on your screenshot : Get New Messages &
Get New Messages For.
There are both working on my mozilla.
Try one thing : remove your xul.mfl file. It can help :-)
I think these options are well working on 1.2 final release.

Both???
What sense does it make to leave 'Get new messages' enabled for local folders?
Where does it get the messages from?
I start doubting that we mean the same by local folders. For me they are the
folders under 'Locar Folders' account.
I deleted xul.mfl after your you had suggested it for the first time. No change.

I mean this folder too. Local folders with subfolders (drafts, templates, unsent
messages, sent and trash in it).
I mean the bottom "Local Folders", yes.
I tested with both modern and classic theme. I can mail you a screenshot if you
want.

You are both seeing different things, because the behaviour of 'Get msgs' button
changed on 2002-11-10.
From a post by Seth Spitzer to n.p.m.mail-news from 2002-11-09:
>In tomorrow's build:
>
>1) it is always enabled (bug #89404, bug #111102)
>2) if news server selected, it updates the unread counts on that server
>3) if "Local Folders" selected, it does "get msgs" for default account
>
>There is discussion (or will be) in bug #125885 about making it so that shift
>click of this button will do "get msgs for all authenticated accounts".
Of course, this feature is not available in 1.2.

Thanks Adam. Nice to find out that I'm not out of my mind yet.
Should we mark this bug as duplicate of #89404?
