In order to to know that I must open the message in a new window or at least view it in the preview pane. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download a message with at least an attachment (do differnece between POP3 and IMAP accounts 2. The icon don't show that the message has some attachement 3. Display the message (open it in a new window or display it in the preview pane) 4. The icon is updated, so it now diplay a paper-clip that let you know that there is an attachment Mozilla remember between different sessions that messages that you have opened and that have an attachment: the icon is correc. If you don't diplay a message but just view the source or if you print preview it, the icon is not updated.

Confirming with Build 2003042904 and Windows XP and a current Linux build. This can´t be done reliable when only the headers are downloaded (see bug 79987), but I think for messages that are downloaded completely there should be a different new-mail icon for messages with attachments.

I guess like bug 199979 this bug is fixed by bug 241203, see bug 199979 comment 21.

Giuseppe Amato, can you confirm (per comment 5) that this bug is no longer a problem with current builds?
I can confirm: the bug looks fixed on Thunderbird 1.0 I'm able to test only IMAP mail.
