Sometimes I have something indirectly relevant to comment on a bug (usually merely relevant to the conversation occurring on the bug, but not the bug itself) and thus want to be able to mark my comment as off-topic.

GitHub provides this functionality. Bugzilla does not.

Ah, I don't have that. Thanks. Does that mean that this report has some merit? - I envisioned users being able to do so regardless of privileges, but perhaps Bugzilla's fine-grained privilege system allowing this to be disabled has some merit.

If you're a part of the Bugzilla admin team, could you consider allowing this for regular users?

I think there's some merit to the idea of allowing users to apply tags to their own comments whether or not they have permission to tag others. It would require some additional tracking on the back end, though, as we'd need to prevent them from removing tags they didn't add themselves (so they can't untag it if they get marked as spam by someone who does have the extra perms, for example)

An example of when I'd like one hidden is id=1738303#c10, for I commented it a long time ago, when I didn't yet know of the "Follow" button, and it adds nothing to the conversation.
