'Spaces Toolbar' currently displays icons for:

  • Mail
  • Address book
  • Calendar
  • Tasks
  • Chats
  • flex space blank area followed by
  • Settings
  • Hide Spaces Toolbar

It would be desirable to have the following customisation as an enhancement.

  • Mail
  • Address book
  • Calendar
  • Tasks
  • Chats
  • flex space blank area followed by
  • Account Settings
  • Addons & themes
  • Settings
  • Hide Spaces Toolbar

Request enahancement:
Addition of 'Account Settings' and 'Addons & Themes'

Currently the customise options relate to colour customisation.

Request enhancement:
Option to select 'Show' / 'Hide' for each icon.
eg: if you do not use Chat then select to Hide Chat.

Both Account Settings and Addons & Themes are currently available as context menu items on the settings space. From a semantic standpoint I don't think we'd want to split off those two from the settings space.

While I understand the sentiment to want to hide parts of the application you don't actively use, I wonder how we'd deal with some of the implications, like the fact that we currently have numbered keyboard shortcuts for the spaces (except settings).

Senario: If person does not use 'Chat' then it's likely they have not set up a Chat account.
If you choose not to display Chat icon in spaces toolbar - I currently have Chat icon not displaying and do not have a chat account.
Pressing 'Alt 5' opens the tab saying an account is not set up with the option to create a chat account. It does not have any other undesirable effect.

But it is undesirable to have toolbars cluttered with icons you do not use.
The ability to fully customise toolbars is historically a main feature about Thunderbird.
The Unified toolbar has the ability to customise what is displayed.

Account Settings and Addons & Themes are currently available as context menu items on the settings space - that's true and you can get them via the Menu Bar as well and you can get all the icons currently on the Spaces toolbar put onto the Unified Toolbar.

This is about a single click to open those options.
I do not find it logical to put eg: 'Addons & Themes' onto the 'Unified Toolbar' and logical to put it on the 'Spaces Toolbar'.

I'd also like to be able to remove the icons on the spaces toolbar I don't use to reduce visual clutter. If existing keyboard shortcuts causing confusion is a concern, maybe the option to hide a feature's icon could also disable the keyboard shortcut.
