I've tried reproducing this on a similar device (Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 with Android 13) on a Nightly build close to the one when this ticket was created (116.0a1 from 2023-06-20) and I couldn't reproduce this issue either.
Also tried on the latest Nightly (117.0a1 from 2023-07-24), latest Beta (116.0b8) builds and with other devices as well, with the same result on my side.
The build set as default browser remains set as default after restart and using other browsers as well.
Devices used:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (Android 13)
- Oppo Find X5 (Android 13)
- Google Pixel 7 (Android 14)
@Webworkr, could you try reproducing it on the latest Nightly? If yes, could you provide with any extra detail that might help figuring out the cause? Thank you!

However, I also noticed that one of my e-mail applications was preset as an unwanted default application. This could only be fixed by uninstalling this application. After reinstalling, the phenomenon occurred again. For months, the default in Nightly and no default in email apps worked without problems. Only now I see a possible connection between these two phenomena. Could the latest Samsung update be the cause? Has anyone heard of such problems with Samsung?

Not on a Samsung device, but Huawei. My default sms app keeps changing from Messages to the pre-installed one.
So I guess the question here is if we can do something about it ( looks like we cannot) or is it a device-specific problem.

It is possible that there is a connection here. Both tickets are about the default settings of default apps directly or indirectly:
Bug 1840720, Bug 1849368
