Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0
Steps to reproduce:
I reorganised my containers using the multi-container extension
Actual results:
The new sorting did not have any effect on the 'core' ? list of containers:
- other extensions or abilities do not inherit the new sorting, like
** 'switch container' extension
** 'always open this site in...' option in the url bar
** the container management page in the settings - a new installation of the multi-container extension will lose the information (but not the list of applications)
Expected results:
- I wish the core container element would provide some kind of interface for the sorting so that this sorting is globally available / shared between the components using the containers
- I know the multi-container extension is managed in github, but since it is provided by Mozilla, could the extension also be updated to use this new interface (if the import of current sorting is for any reason problematic, it is not a problem for me to do it once again, if I know it is then centralized).

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'WebExtensions::Untriaged' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Please report this to the MAC extension, this is not a supported feature of Firefox without extensions. https://github.com/mozilla/multi-account-containers

As an enhancement request this would be technically invalid (enhancement request should be requested in the issue tracker of the addon), but this actually needed also change on the contextualIdentities API too in addition to changes to the multu-account-containers addon to then use the new API methods, and that seems to have been actually being worked on in Bug 1333395 and so I'm going to close this as a duplicate instead.
