Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download and install Archive Reader (AO3) app on Android.
  2. Go to any story on archiveofourown.org

Actual results:

Option "Open in app" is missing.

Expected results:

Option "Open in app" should be present. The URL in the current tab should be opened in the corresponding app by clicking.

It was present before, but it disappeared after one of the updates. The app has the domain "archiveofourown.org" listed under the "Opening links" settings (screenshot is attached). But it's listed without a wildcard.

Update.
Firefox Focus has the option "Open in..." that I can use to open the current tab in the app I want

I will take a look at this. If Focus supports it, Fenix should support it as well.

I was able to reproduce this on the RC 117.0, and Nightly 118.0a1 from 8/25, with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Android 9).

I'm unable to reproduce this with emulator on Android 9, pixel 3 on Android 12 and Samsung S9 with Android 10 with 117.1.0.
:SeregaKR can you still reproduce? Thanks,

The bug was partly resolved. I found a workaround.
The issue lies with unofficial applications. In the newest Android versions, it's tricky to confirm the links that such an app can open. As a universal solution, I suggest adopting a Firefox Focus approach, in particular adding the "Open in..." menu item from there along or instead of "Open in app" (if the latter is not available).

The screenshot of the menu items is attached. ![Screenshot of the menu items mentioned (https://drive.google.com/file/d/17PxIZPyMTkVLopSO4KurP3Z5EbmOf4Gz/view?usp=sharing)]

Thanks for confirming. That's an interesting idea. I'll look into how Focus does it and see if should adapt it to Firefox. I will close this issue as resolved.
