Steps to reproduce:

In Thunderbird 115.0.1 the read status is not updated when messages are read. Just directly after opening Thunderbird it is sometimes marked as read after a message is read.

Actual results:

Got message. Thunderbird indicates the number of new messages.
After a message is read (opening, or "m"-key) no change of the number of unread messages by Thunderbird.
Only when Thunderbird is started sometimes it works one time.

Expected results:

When I use the "m"-key or select it as read the number of unread messages should decrease accordingly.

This relates to the read status on the taskbar icon.
