Steps to reproduce:

The option to "Show Total Message Count" in the folder menu is on.
But after restarting Thunderbird the numbers are not shown any more, although the option is still active.

Actual results:

After restart I have to go to the folder menu, unclick the option "Show Total Message Count" and then click again: the numbers are now shown.
But after closing and reopening, the numbers are hidden again.

Expected results:

The Option should survive a closing and restarting.

This needs to be confirmed.

this is the situation: left after restart, right after correcting (unclick + click of "Show Total Message Count")

Hi,

I've tested this in 115.1.1 and daily (118.0a1) in Windows 11 and am not able to reproduce this bug.

What operating system are you using? What version of 115?

One edge case is the setting might not be saved if you exit the application sooner than Thunderbird has time to save your setting. But I tried to quickly exit and it worked for me as expected (Total Message Count was shown).

hi there,

thunderbird: version 115.1.1 (64bit)
OS: windows 11 pro, 22H2
exit from thunderbird: always via menu "File" > "Exit"

is there no-one more competent here?

this interesting thread shows that the sorting of subfolders and the visibility of total message count must be connected.
and that there is a bug, underlying the default setting of thunderbird.

I found out about the cause of this bug: it's the plugin "Manually Sort Folders".

After disabling the plugin (version 3.2) the total message count keeps showing after restart.
