Details

As a user who has turned off feature recommendations, I want to learn about Fakespot feature on my own terms, in a minimally intrusive manner.

Acceptance criteria

  1. Shopping companion in the opt-in state is not automatically opened on eligible pages if I have voiced my preference for not receiving feature recommendations in about:preferences or about:config:
  • If browser.dataFeatureRecommendations.enabled is false.
  • If browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.asrouter.userprefs.cfr.features is false.
  1. Shopping URL bar icon is displayed regardless of the values of the prefs above, as it doesn’t constitute a feature recommendation.

Please note
In Fx 119, this will be handled by targeting in Nimbus, and will need to be tested as a part of the 119 launch experiment configuration.
