Steps to reproduce:
On Linux Fedora 38 (Linux 6.4.12-200.fc38.x86_64, Gnome 44, Wayland) with the latest updates + Thunderbird 115.2.0 (thunderbird-flatpak-1.0).
Choose Print... menu and Thunderbird 115.2.0 crashes immediately. Every time.
The problem persists if I run Thunderbird in safe mode.
Note i had the same issue with the previous release of Thunderbird (115.1.1).
Actual results:
It crashes immediately and displays a dialog box saying :
"Thunderbird had a problem and crashed.
Unfortunately, the crash repoter is unable to submit a crash report.
Details : the application did not leave a crash dump file."
Expected results:
Print...
Known problem in FlatPak, you should take it up with the FlatPak maintainers. If you install the .tar.bz2 it will work.

I simply followed the instructions on https://blog.thunderbird.net/2023/07/our-fastest-most-beautiful-release-ever-thunderbird-115-supernova-is-here/ : "On Linux, the timing of this release and subsequent automatic updates may be determined by your distribution’s maintainers. If it’s convenient for you, we recommend installing the Thunderbird Flatpak from Flathub, which is now packaged and maintained by the Thunderbird team."
For me (Fedora 38 Silverblue) printing from the TB 115.2.0 flatpak works fine, so the crash seems to be caused by some setting that is different between your and my machine.
@Francesco: Can you give a reference explaining what exactly the known issue with flatpak printing is? How can the flatpak maintainers be contacted?
TB FlatPak printing crashing was mentioned in a forum. If the TB team now manage the FlatPak, they should investigate. I'll NI someone who is very active in FlatPak implementation.

Thanks Franceso,
This sounds like the same as bug 1849397. It's caused by a bug in cups-2.4.4.
The fix is going to come in the org.freedesktop.Platform
runtime package, apparently in version 22.08.15. (Currently at 22.08.14)
That update occurs outside of Thunderbird's release process, I can't say for sure when it will happen. Best I can suggest is update from Flathub regularly and be sure to take platform updates.

The Freedesktop.SDK update is out. In theory running flatpak update
will update it and no changes to the Thunderbird Flatpak are needed to pick up the fix.
I was not able to trigger the bug in my own testing, so I cannot confirm if it is fixed or not.
