Steps to reproduce:

I am using several different computers in different offices plus several mobile notebooks.

I have several E-Mail-Accounts, which I want to synchronize via IMAP on every machine.

The synchronization fails more often now and more synchronized emails show a different content, than on the online-access of the mailbox - i. e. the synchronization by Thunderbird via IMAP fails.

Actual results:

Despite having an accurate local IMAP-synchronized mailbox (copy). Thunderbird nowadays often restarts to synchronize about 90,000 emails, which takes hours, if not several days.

When it says, everything is fine, maybe about 5% of the local emails show a correct subject, but the content is corrupted or from another email or the like.

My Mailboxes are now up to 26 GB large and I try to use them as "information storage" by not deleting them and being able to find something even after years.

This capability seems to vanish now in Thunderbird, as the mailboxes seem to synchronize again and again and not all the content is correctly synchronize.

I would dare to say, that I would nearly at a 100% exclude any attack, virus, phishing and whatever as the reason, because we are using firewalls and market leaders for our machine protection, where we seem to do quite well. We never open any unknown email or the like.

It would be great, if Thunderbird in the near future was able again for us to be used on different machines synchronizing several mailboxes via IMAP and deliver correct results/a flawless local database, which seems to be not the case at the moment.

Expected results:

It would be great, if Thunderbird in the near future was able again for us to be used on different machines synchronizing several large mailboxes via IMAP and deliver correct results/a flawless local database, which seems to be not the case at the moment.

I am up to helping to finding the source of the problem - thank you very much in advance.

It would be great to get any feedback, whether thsi problem is known, what the capacity of the database of Thunderbird is (several 100 GB?), and what I am able to to, so that it works again - I am happy to help you solve the problem - thank you very much in advance.

The main problem I have with a gmx.de account.

Now it looks as the bug has been assigned to me, which is fine, but just for my understanding: will someone on the side of Mozilla/Bugzilla/Thunderbird pick it up or is more or different input required from my side?

Try Thunderbird 115. In the folder properties, try Repair folder.

Summary: Thunderbird fails zu synchronize correctly its installations on different PCs via IMAP → keeps re-synchronizing (downloading) the imap folders

Dear Magnus, dear Mozilla Team,

the problem occured again plus another one with a new version.

I am very sorry to say, that you have abviously several database problems with Thunderbird at the moment, at least that I am suffering from at the moment.

One ist the above. It reloads again and again now nearly 100,000 emails and does not stop.

Possible reason: My antivirus program found a virus in the emails a few days ago, before any damage has been done and removed the file/mail. Maybe that is the reason, why Thunderbird thinks, there is a corrupt database and keeps reloading and reloading, despite being fine with that accurate and sensible removal.

Secondly your new version with the Schnellfilter, which is my main used feature and is why I work with Thunderbird, has become so slow now, that I cannot use it anymore, despite a very fast SSD and a quite fast I7 processor etc.

Older Version: Fast Schnellfilter - New Version: every typing into the argument of the Schnellfilter results in a reset of the filter and a completely new filtering (as compared to any older version of Thunderbird very slow), where I first have to look again at all emails and then after a long time I can see the new filter results, where it was just at my fingertips in all the versions before. Shouldn't new versions become better and faster and not slower and worse?

Or it may happen alternatively or in combination with "Ordner komprimieren" on several machines with the same emails-addresses after deleting a few hundred MB or anything from the email-database...

Resolving quickly at least the first of the problems: Can I return to an older version of Thunderbird with the faster "Schnellfilter"? If yes, how?

Will the two problems of a now for the first time slower Schnellfilter and of the unnnecessary again and again reloading of all emails be resolved soon, or do I have to switch away from Thunderbird, which I really do not want to do after all these years? Can I pay you for fixing it?

This is not critisizing, but just saying I am desperately trying to make it work again for me.

All the best and

best regards,

Robert

quick filter issues should likely be resolved.

Does this still happen?
