User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/116.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
In a fresh Thunderbird installation with 3 IMAP accounts configured (from the very same mail provider), activate the unified folders view («Gruppierte Ordner» in German).
Actual results:
As you can see from the screenshot, a rather random selection of folders is displayed:
– Inbox: shows all three accounts, but two of them with subfolders (which is not the idea)
– Drafts: works fine
– Sent: works fine
– Archives: one account shows up twice, another one is missing; one account shows subfolders, others don't
– Junk: only one of the three accounts is present
– Trash: the local trash is showing up although local folders are disabled
Expected results:
The idea of the unified folder view is to show each special folder from all(!) existing accounts grouped together – not just some of them – and without subfolders.
BTW: Switch Thunderbird from German to English does not solve the issue.

We've seen similar problems before, also with this provider. It's clearly not completely fixed. Just to be clear, was the first time you enabled unified folders after setting up all of the accounts, or after just one? I can reproduce a similar problem if unified folders had already been enabled before setting up an account.

If the Drafts folder is a subfolder of the Inbox folder, it should be part of the Drafts unified folder but not the Inbox unified folder.
This is a confusing mass of edge cases.

I am not 100 percent sure, but unified folders were probably enabled right after setting up the first account.
I can also add that I tried two methods for resolving the issue:
– By installing the FolderFlags add-on to check the flags (which looked as they should).
– By selecting manually the folders to be displayed (and not to be display) in the properties of the unified folders (which worked).

Okay, so it is as I expected. The code is seeing the Drafts folder (for example) added as a child of the Inbox folder, so it's adding it to the unified Inbox folder. My proposed change prevents that happening.
