User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/117.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Select/change/enter a folder (especially one with many messages)
  2. Hit Ctrl+Shift+K to quick filter
  3. Start typing

Actual results:

  1. Quick filter input is suddenly reset/deleted, I have to start over.

It feels like this happens when the message list finishes loading.

Expected results:

Quick filter should not be reset (I should not have to wait until the message list finishes loading; or the input should be disabled until this happens).

The folder in question is my unified inbox, it contains ~30k messages. The reset happens roughly 1 second after the folder change.

I noticed this behavior after the update to v115. Pretty disruptive to my workflow :)

Please test 115.3.0 later this week and post your results.
Thanks

I do see the input-getting-reset fairly often. But I don't know why it happens.

Summary: Quick filter resets, deletes input when folder's message list finishes loading (?) → Quick filter text input resets - deletes input when folder's message list finishes loading (?)

I have also seen this with Mac using beta. Although rarely. Happens so quickly it's easy to miss.

This could be helped by bug 1849650

Are you still this problem when using 115.9.0?

Yes.

And no changing when using 115.10.1?

bikubi,

On which column is this folder sorted?
And is View > SortyBy set to "Threaded" or "Unthreaded?

The bug persists for me in 115.10.1 (64 bit).
My view is unthreaded.

I think I am still seeing this (rarely) on nightly.

bikubi, in the next couple weeks see if you can reproduce at all in version 128, which will be just coming out.

I don't know about 128, but I still have it in 115.15.0.

In what version is the (incomplete) fix supposed to be included?

Also calling @bikubi for more info :-)

There will have been no changes in version 115. The question today, is for version 128's behavior - my comment 13 would have been using 128.

=> incomplete with moreinformation from bikubi

Hi! Thanks for pinging & sorry for the delay, my distro has been unusually slow in picking up new versions.
Now on v>130 I see this much, much less - I think I caught it once in the last couple of weeks.
