news.det.sbcglobal.net is my news server, which requires a  log in (my ISP is
SBC/Ameritech). Password manager will ask for user and password and the check
box is set to remember - except is does not.

Also while reading news - either selecting a different message within a group,
or selecting a different group - I get reprompted for user/password. Note, this
was also a problem with versions 1.0 and 1.2

The passowrd is only stored for one group. You must svae the password for each
group.
