This use case is reproduced on 122.0a1 (2023-11-22) (64 bits) / Windows 11
It was functional last month.
I mean, watching a movie on netflix.com / open a new tab on Netflix.com
=> crash of the first tab netflix on the widevine.
At month, there was a popup in the second tab , saying that netflix was already running.
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1351115 +++
I get Widevine crashes on Netflix.
Steps to reproduce:
- Play a video
- Open netflix.com in another tab while the video is playing

None of these appear to have been reported (they aren't showing up). Could you check about:crashes and see if you can get them posted?
Please note that it appears to be more challenging to reproduce the issue on the latest version of the browser (122.0a1) running on Windows 11 (64-bit).
I have already cleaned the crash report folder.
Kindly keep this bug report open, and I will provide further details if I encounter the issue again.

The crash reports are from the original bug that this was cloned from. Presumably this is a different problem given the original was 7 years ago.
Does this happen with Chrome?

(In reply to FredM from comment #5)
122.0a1 (2023-11-27) (64 bits) Windows 11
Does this happen on Windows or Linux? Or both?
I tested only on windows. Please rename the title.
about:crashes is empty : "Aucun rapport de plantage n’a été envoyé."

"about:crashes" is still empty
and when I press on "Envoyer un rapport de plantage", I see nothing, maybe you receive it?
The scenario is watching a movie ( sometimes I am maybe in PIP mode ), and randomly opening a new tab and going on "https://www.netflix.com/browse"

One of those odd Widevine 'crashes' that doesn't generate a crash report.

Something might be preventing the widevine plugin from loading. Can you please post your about:support test? Thanks.

A/V is Windows Defender / MS Firewall, so that isn't the cause.
You have a lot of extensions running, including one specific to Netflix. Could you try accessing Netflix in Safe Mode and see if things work ?

Same WideVineCDM error (in French: "Le plugin WidevineCdm a planté") when launching any DRM video content (Netflix, Prime Video, https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm) since december 2023.
- WideVineCDM version: 4.10.2710.0
- Firefox: 122.0 64 bits
- Windows 10 22H2
- Laptop: HP 440 G8 / Core i5-1135G7 / Intel Iris Xe Graphics
On the same computer, WideVine DRM works with Opera + Chrome but also hangs on Edge.

You could try deleting the current cdm out of your profile directory and triggering an update.
Any chance this is related to Bug 1646683 - Netflix and PrimeVideo.com streams do not work with Firefox when application pathname contains certain non-ASCII characters?
