User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/119.0.0.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Hello. I have many, many "regular" folders and have also created a few "virtual" folders.

The problem is, whenever I create a virtual folder it always appears BELOW the regular folders - and I'd like them to appear ABOVE them (right underneath "Trash", in a folder I've created called "aaa Virtual folders").

But TB (Thunderbird) won't let me do this, using either "right-click... move to...", or via drag and drop.

Actual results:

Please see the attached screenshot. Somehow, I did manage to move one virtual folder up to where I want it. But the others, I just can't get them to budge. You can see one, titled "STARRED (all folders)" - I couldn't drag it all the way up, so it's stuck down in a folder where it doesn't belong (and there are several other misplaced virtual folders down below what you can see in the screenshot).

So, it's a mess. I've tried closing and then reopening TB, and then opening it in "troubleshoot mode" (with add-ins disabled), but the problem persists.

Expected results:

I should be able to move my virtual folders up into where I want them, which is a (containing) folder right underneath "Trash".

Also, I don't know what you mean by including my "browser's user agent string" in the bug description; I'm using Brave and don't understand this concept. Maybe it's this: (?)

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

Anyways, thank you for whatever assistance you can provide.

The problem is, whenever I create a virtual folder it always appears BELOW the regular folders - and I'd like them to appear ABOVE them (right underneath "Trash", in a folder I've created called "aaa Virtual folders").

When you create a virtual save search as a folder, you need to save it as a subfolder of '000 aa Virtual Folders' at time of creating. Then you do not need to drag anything around.

I ran a test:
I've just created a 'Saved Search' folder in Local Folders as a top level folder to contain any virtual saved search as folder.
I then created two saved search folders and deliberately did not choose to save them as a subfolder of 'Saved Search' folder at time of creating - normally I would save then as a subfolder of desired folder at time of creating.
I then used drag and drop to grab the virtual saved search folder and hover over 'Saved Search' where I released them and both are now in the desired folder.
So I have no problem doing this in 'Local Folders' mail account.

However, the image you supplied is lacking some info.
The folder pane scrollbar looks very different from normal - it's very thin and is shown at the top so implying the top of your Folder Pane starts with 'Templates' when I would have expected name of account at the top followed by Inbox, then Drafts and then 'Templates'.

Can you explain why account name and Inbox are missing when scrollbar is shows it's at the top?

What set up you are using.
View > Folders > ?

Do you use Imap or Pop accounts or a mix of both?
If all pop - are they all set up as deferred accounts - Global Inbox (Local Folders) ?

Are you using any addons?
If yes, what are using?

Thunderbird - where did you get this download?
Was it from here: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/
Did you get an upgrade from 102* to 115*

Start Thunderbird in 'Troubleshoot Mode'
Help > 'Troubleshoot Mode'
Click on 'Restart' and choose 'Continue in Troubleshoot mode'

Now try to use drag and drop, or right click and use 'Move to' and select '000 aa Virtual Folders'

Report on results and offer info.
