Having it unbounded was a bit of a problem, but perhaps there should be an option for 5-10 years.

It worked totally fine in ALL versions before 118.
There are users who rely on the freedom to view all events at a time to search without limits in an effective way.
There was no other way to search and edit all events in other apps by viewing all events on one page.
Thunderbird stepped up and provided this and then people became reliant on it to make mass edits and find what they needed without trouble.
Thunderbird programmers did it before, surely they can do it again, considering that it's essential to many users.

Please reconsider returning the filter option.
Without the freedom to see all history and future events, I won't be able to update my main thunderbird email app beyond version 117 to keep up with security updates.
And because before the buggy startup issue was fixed in version 122, (where 115,116,117 doesn't load on startup most the time), I'll be forced to stick with that problem too.
And eventually gmail and outlook mail providers will deprecate version 117, and there will be security risks.
What was the problem with KEEPING the unbounded option 'as is' option after it worked perfectly before 118?

I can't reply there as I don't have permission to re-open the bug.
I found the All Events feature useful, and essential, I didn't need to see all future instances of a recurring event, I just needed the starting point (which I can't see now because he history is drastically reduced to less than a year and often the future is only 6 month long).
Also, there are times when I don't know how long ago a recurring event began and I can't find it when doing calendar my annual maintenance.
Because google calendar has a limit of total recurrences (approx 700-800), there are some events that happen more frequently that will eventually run out of future instances. Therefore, I need to be able to duplicate them. That requires finding when they began. And that requires me to view my entire calendar history. There are also life events pre-millennium, that I can't see by searching for it.
I need the functionality back, the way it was pre-118, as I was using, relying upon and succeeding with my calendar search and maintenance needs using that filter.
At least, there should be a way to permanently restore this filter option through about:config or a simple .js script (or something non coders can implement).

Google's native calendar search is so poor it doesn't respond to most keywords that Thunderbird calendar search filter provides up to version 118.
Historical events whose date we can't remember will get lost. We won't be able to use it to help us answer security questions to reset passwords with financial institutions.
Those who recognise the significant value of this functionality should be given the choices to keep the option available.
